Dear Kemp Mill Neighbor,

You are invited to the Kemp Mill Civic Association’s quarterly meeting which will be held Wednesday February 19 at Kemp Mill Elementary School from 7:30pm-9pm. An agenda for the meeting is below.

We will be voting on the attached KMCA letter (see below) to the Montgomery Planning Board regarding the University Boulevard Corridor Plan. Thank you to everyone who submitted recommended edits on the letter. The Board considered each recommended edit. In many cases, we accepted them. In some cases, we were not able to. I will respond today to each email we received about our last draft. If we were not able to make a change you recommended, I will explain why not.

Other items on the meeting agenda include an amendment to our bylaws to join the Montgomery County Civic Federation (see below), a discussion of the three most-requested new sidewalks in Kemp Mill, and the selection of a nominating committee for KMCA Board positions.

I look forward to seeing you this coming Wednesday!

Kemp Mill Civic Association Quarterly Meeting Agenda -- December 2024

KMCA QuarterlyMeeting – Monday September 30th @ 7:30 PM

Dear Kemp Mill Neighbor,

You are invited to the Kemp Mill Civic Association’s quarterly meeting which will be held Monday September 30 at Kemp Mill Elementary School from 7:30pm-8:50pm.  An agenda for the meeting is below.

We will be hearing from Doug Gaddis, executive director of Silver Spring Village.  Silver Spring Village is an organization serving older adults in our community by providing resources necessary for these residents to live independently in their current homes.  Silver Spring Village was recently recognized by Fortune magazine in its recent article naming Silver Spring, Maryland as the best place in America for multigenerational families.  Doug will talk with us about some of the services Silver Spring Village offers residents in our community, ways to get involved or volunteer, and resources that older adults (or their relatives) should be aware of.

We will also be discussing the weekly Friday-Sunday closure of Sligo Creek Parkway to drivers.  We will discuss a resolution stating that it is KMCA’s policy that the road should be open on Fridays and every night (but not on weekends during the day), and directing the Board to work with neighboring civic associations and County leaders to try to make that happen.  If you have views on this issue–either way–please make your voice heard!

I look forward to seeing you on Monday!

Thanks,
Jules
