- 7:35 pm: Guest Speaker – County Council Nominee Scott Goldberg
- Scott Goldberg won a June primary to be one of the Democratic Party’s four at-large nominees for the Montgomery County Council. Scott will share his goals for serving on the Council, take our questions, and listen to our thoughts.
- This is your chance to discuss economic development, taxes, public safety, education, University Boulevard, or any other issue with one of our county’s likely next at-large councilors.
- 8:10 pm: Lamberton Drive
- Transportation Chair Gil Chlewicki will update us on changes to the Lamberton Drive Traffic Safety Improvements we discussed at our last meeting, including the shrinking of the bump-out at the intersection Lamberton/Monticello/South Belgrade.
- Gil will present a proposal for KMCA member discussion/voting to ask the County to finalize currently-unfinished projects and then conclude the project without pursuing further infrastructure changes at this time.
- 8:35 pm: Northwood High School
- Kemp Mill students are not set to be zoned to attend Northwood High School when Northwood re-opens for the 2027-2028 school year.
- Northwood is our community’s historic local high school. Nearly all Kemp Mill public high schoolers are able to safely and easily walk or bike to Northwood without crossing major roads. In contrast, Kennedy—where Kemp Milll students are currently scheduled to be zoned—is over 45 minutes by school bus.
- Making matters even stranger, Northwood High—which apparently can’t fit local neighborhood kids—is scheduled to be significantly under capacity next year.
- A group of Kemp Mill parents will present a letter for KMCA member discussion/voting asking MCPS to approve a Change of School Assignment (COSA) to enable Kemp Mill students to attend Northwood while MCPS considers changes to the permanent boundary.
